A Letter to My Senator

A letter to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand:
I am an African-American woman, married and the mother of four. I am contacting you because I know contacting Sen. Schumer is to speak on deaf ears. As a woman, I insist that you abstain from voting to amend any part of the Second Amendment in the name of "public safety". Doing so just to stand in lock step with your party causes me, as a women, wife and mother to be exposed to harm from criminals. Why are you doing this? Why do you not cry out when scores of inner city black children are killed by violence due to illegally obtained handguns that are in the hands of criminals? When little white children are murdered, now you feel that you need to vote to infringe on a constitutional right that I have to protect my children. It's cruel. It's wrong and will do NOTHING to stop criminals who don't care what laws you pass. I cannot help but believe that it's not about crime but about regulating those of us who obey laws because you in power believe that we are easier to control: Criminals are not as easy for you do deal with and your support of any measure that dilutes my right to defend myself and my family proves that. I urge you to leave the Second Amendment alone and enforce the laws already there to stop criminals!
